241) Event News: The Windsport Catparts Sprint 15 Traveller Series TT at Grafham Water Sailing Club - Race Report

The last regatta of the Windsport Catparts Sprint 15 Summer traveller series was held at Grafham Water Sailing Club on the weekend of 16-17 October, which was also the Inland Championships. There were 30 entries including two who were trying out the DX sails, but could not qualify for the prizes as the sail has not been adopted by the class. This once again made the Sprint 15s the biggest fleet at the Grafham Cat Open.more..

Windsport have donated a new sail to the association and we are going to raffle it by giving tickets to those competing in the Winter TT series, you get 1 ticket per event you attend. The winner will be drawn at the series finale in Grafham next year. more..

The fourth Sprint 15 TT of 2010 took place on 25th&26th September at Carsington Sailing Club in Derbyshire. Competitors arrived to clear blue skies which deceptively masked the chill of the strong north wind. Some testing conditions were forecasted over the next two days with wind strength predicted to be between F3 - F5 with some big shifting gusts. more..

The Windsport Catparts Sprint 15 National Championships were held at Netley Sailing Club on 13 -15 Aug. The entry was 61 boats from 21 clubs and Netley had a surprise 5 boats taking part (we did not know that they had such a fleet). more..

I have uploaded some photos of the Model Sprint 15 project that Nick Dewhirst and Kevin Dutch have been working on. Background: Nick acquired an old Robbe Newcat model and got some new sails made which look the part, Kevin refurbished all the working bits and pieces and installed some new RC parts. The result is a model that looks just like the real thing! Currently it resides in the Seasalter Sailing Club bar. more..

9 travellers & 15 home boats met for the Seasalter TT in brilliant sunshine. A delayed Saturday start allowed the NE sea breeze to overcome the prevailing SW winds providing steady F4 winds until the last lap of the second race of the day. Square / trapezoid courses were set with committee boat start for each of the four races over two days. more..

The Sprint 15 Southern Championships were held at Thorpe Bay Yacht Club on the weekend of 26-27 June. The weather throughout the weekend was spectacular, with plenty of sunshine and enough wind to suit most tastes. The first day was the breezier of the two.
